Hang in There

Good Evening

Hope you are having a lovely Friday.  That's the rain on here now but it's still very sultry.  I'm having a busy evening baking for a Strawberry Tea which is being held at a nearby sheltered housing complex tomorrow.

Tonight's card is made using a Magnolia stamp I bought on Ebay a while back but this is the first chance I've had to use it.  It's called Dangling Sea Tilda and I've coloured it with Promarkers.

The papers and button are all from the Spots and Stripes Brights collection from Docrafts.  I've also used an embossing folder on the white card for a spotty effect.  The dies are by X-cut.  The only other additions are some string and a computer generated sentiment.

Enjoy the weekend,
Shona xx

Thank You Teacher

Good evening crafty friends,

I'm starting to get a bit stressed again with work and commitments at home but I'm determined to keep crafting and blogging through it to keep my spirits up.  I've got just over 2 weeks until my fortnights holidays so I am sure I can keep going until then.

Tonight's card is one I made a couple of weeks back for Iona to give her teacher at the end of term.  Unfortunately the teacher she had last year is leaving the school as it was just a probationary post she had.  She is a fantastic teacher for one so young and will be a big miss at the school.

I used black card and white embossing powder to create a chalkboard effect for the focal point of the card then die cut around it using a spellbinders die.  It comes complete with some chalk dust by way of some stray embossing powder (oops!).  I'm afraid I have no idea about the brand or name of the stamp set as it was given to me by a friend without the packaging but I have a sneaking suspicion it might be a Woodware one.  The patterned paper is from a 6x6 stack by Studio Calico called Darling Dear and was a surprise find in TK Maxx for the bargain price of £2.99.  I've added some faux stitching using a Micron pen and some narrow gingham ribbon.  The card is finished off with some black domed embellishments (can't really describe them as gems) from Hobbycraft and some Tim Holtz Idea-ology letter stickers.

Thank you for taking the time to drop by,

Shona xx

Mrs & Mrs

Good afternoon,

It's not often I get a chance to blog of an afternoon but it's rainy and I'm at home so why not?  I'm glad the weather did the decent thing and the rain held off for the Queen's Baton Relay visit to Inverness early this morning, it's been a busy day as Iona was also singing in the school choir this afternoon for one of the teacher's wedding which took place at the town hall.  I managed to get in and listen and they sounded fab even if I didn't see them!

Anyway, today's card is for the teacher in question and her new husband!

It's a very CAS card compared to most of my recent ones but I quite like the simplicity of it.  The stamp is by Stampin' up which was stamped with a clear Versa Mark ink then heat embossed with Silver Papermania embossing powder.  The grey card stock, patterned paper, ribbons and gems are also by Papermania and the Beautiful Wings Embosslits set used for the butterflies are also from Stampin' Up.  The 2 other dies used are by X-cut.

Thank you for looking,
Shona x

And now for something completely different!

Hello again!

Tonight's post isn't a card in fact it's nothing to do with paper craft at all!  Tonight I have a photograph of my sister in law's chihuahua Elvis wearing a coat that I knitted for him.

You may be wondering why a dog would need a coat in the height of summer but I actually made it a while back and never got around to blogging the result.  I was commissioned to knit the coat from a pattern my SIL had been given as a bit of a joke present but we are all really pleased by how it turned out - even Elvis!  Chihuahuas were never really my thing but this wee guy has such a huge personality you can't help but like him.

See you soon with another crafty creation,
Shona xx

Baby Girl Card

Hello again,

Ah it's nice to be back in the world of blogging and crafting.  Thank you to everyone who left comments on my last post.  I'm later posting tonight as I took a bit of work home with me and then had some chores to catch up on :(

Anyway, on to tonight's card which is a Baby Girl Card I made for a work colleague's new Granddaughter.

I've had my eye on this Pink Gem digi for a while so it was a good excuse to get it and have a go at colouring it in, which I've done with Promarkers to match the 'Boofle' paper I've used.  The image was given a light spritz of Crafter's Companion Spray and Sparkle for some added glitter.  All the dies are by X-cut and the sentiment is by LOTV.  I've added a spotty organza ribbon bow and some gems to finish off my card.

Thank you for taking the time to have a look at my blog and I really appreciate any comments you leave.

Hello Again It's Been A While...

Good Evening,

Gosh it feels like forever since I last blogged anything.  I have had a bit of a break from crafting, I've had one or two commissions which I may blog later but apart from that I've been catching up on my much neglected home and been busy with work and family.  Also for someone who hasn't had much of a social life for the last few years I've had several weeks where I've had lots of nights out and things on which has done me good and cheered me up no end!  Oh and I've discovered Pinterest which I'm completely obsessed with!!!

So on to my first blogged card since April...

The stamped image is Peek a Boo by Sugar Nellie and has been coloured with Promarkers to match the Springtime papers which are by Hobbycraft and were a gift from one of my lovely crafty pals.  I've added faux stitching to the papers and followed a sketch from a Docrafts Sketch Challenge.  The dies used are both by X-cut and I've run the white die cut circle through a swiss dots embossing folder.  The card is finished with a foam number from Asda, spotty ribbon from Joanna Sheen and some pink and green gems from Docrafts.

It's nice to be back and hopefully it won't be as long until my next post!
